MVP Village Theatre

In a survey, respondents were also asked what it is they liked about going to the theatre. A huge number of people described going for the entertainment value or to escape from the real world and see things through other people's perspectives: 'Because it is storytelling, because you learn about other people, cultures and other lives”.  OnePoll 2013

In a small village, being able to share these experiences with your friends and neighbours is also part of being “a community”, but for many, either the cost or the challenge of travelling into towns and cities for a night at the theatre, is too daunting.

In support of the MVP objective “Enriching Village Life”, MVP has, for a number of years. invited touring Professional theatre companies to perform in Mortimer and provide an affordable evening “at the Theatre” with refreshments from the MVP bar.

The touring companies are subsidised by Government grants, as part of any initiative to bring Theatre to rural locations. They specialise in staging high quality productions in small Village Halls.
