Death of Her Majesty

Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Mortimer Benefice has announced that St John's Church will be open daily, 8.30 am - 6.30 pm, for quiet reflection, prayer and the lighting of candles in thanksgiving. A condolence book is also available for signing.

There will be a parish requiem on Sunday18th September at 10am and a thanksgiving service at 3 pm. Both at St John's church Mortimer. 

PRAYER AT THIS TIME OF STATE MOURNING FOR OUR LATE SOVEREIGN LADY, HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II                       

Heavenly Father, we remember before you with love and thanksgiving Elizabeth, our late Sovereign Lady. Let light perpetual shine upon her. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE KING

Gracious Father, bless and guide Charles our King, and all in authority under him that they may govern with justice and wisdom and seek the common good. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE ROYAL FAMILY AND ALL WHO MOURN

Merciful Father, we pray for the Royal Family and all who mourn.  May the love of Christ bring them comfort and may the hope of the resurrection bring them peace. Amen.
