Hi Mortimer! Have you heard about the Great Big Green Week running from 18-26 September?

Poster Competition

It's a national week in which to hold events and activities celebrating action on climate change; all the information and plenty of ideas, can be found here https://greatbiggreenweek.comMany of the ideas are for small, simple things you can do with your family or just a few friends.

MVP is running a children’s poster competition in support of the Great Big Green Week initiative We’re looking for posters that promote climate change awareness and the actions we all need to take to create a cleaner, greener healthier world. Your poster can be in any format or medium (landscape orientation preferred) and we’re hoping for bright and colourful entries that everyone will be able to see!

There are two age groups; up to 8 and 8-11, and the closing date is the start of the Great Big Green Week, Saturday 18th September. Prizes of a 6 month subscription to an eco-kids magazine for the winner in each age group, and to have your poster used as the cover photo for MVP Facebook page.

Send your poster as an email attachment to: chairman@mortimervillage.org.uk by18th September, stating the child’s name and age. All entries will be displayed on the MVP website and the winners will be selected by the MVP committee

MVP would also love to promote any events or activities that you are carrying out to support this cause and will add photos and/or text to the MVP website. We can also help share ideas and put groups in contact who may want to work together on any initiatives.  Some examples of things you might do include:

  • Run a book or film club night with a climate/environment theme
  • Work with your neighbours to create hedgehog highways
  • Identify an unloved space where you can seek permission to plant wildflowers
  • Hold a climate quiz

Please comment on here if you have an activity or event planned you want to promote, or want to connect with others that do. You can also send us information via the Contact Us on the MVP website.
