Mortimer Fun Day Back for 2025

After a seven-year hiatus, the ever-popular Mortimer Fun Day will return on Saturday 05 July.

The event will be held on Mortimer Fairground and will be hosted by Mortimer Village Partnership (MVP) and Mortimer Music Live (MML).

For those new to the village, this event has been a beloved tradition for over a decade.  During the day, entrance will be free of charge to all.  Any help you can give in running this event would be really appreciated,  follow this link:  Click to View Volunteer Opportunities on SignUp

You can expect exciting arena acts including a walkabout dinosaur and a thrilling parkour demonstration (see below) alongside local dance, singing and acrobatic groups.

Classic summer fete activities including coconut shies and welly-wanging will also be happening! Local clubs and societies will be running these activities, giving them a chance to fundraise while connecting with the wider community. And, of course, no Fun Day would be complete without a Beer Tent, offering local beers and a selection of refreshing summer drinks.

2025 SMPC Community Award – Chris Morsley

For those who missed the recent Annual Parish Meeting, I’m delighted to share that our very own Chris Morsley has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the community over many years.

Chris Morsley receives SMPC award from Chair Danusia 2025

Although not a “committee man,” Chris has been a steadfast supporter of the Mortimer Village Partnership (MVP) since its inception. He has taken on a wide range of responsibilities, including acting as Quartermaster for our marquees and equipment, coordinating litter picks, managing newsletter distribution, and generally lending a hand whenever needed.

Chris also gives his time to Handibus, where he not only drives but also takes on the challenging task of scheduling drivers and trips. Before that, he spent many years as a driver for the Burghfield and Mortimer Volunteer Bureau and dedicated countless hours as a Scout leader—still proudly appearing in uniform at Remembrance Services.

Above all, Chris is known to many of us as a genuinely kind and reliable person—someone you’re proud to call a friend.

From all of us at the MVP: well done, Chris! A much-deserved award.
