Mortimer Fun Day Back for 2025

After a seven-year hiatus, the ever-popular Mortimer Fun Day will return on Saturday 05 July.

The event will be held on Mortimer Fairground and will be hosted by Mortimer Village Partnership (MVP) and Mortimer Music Live (MML).

For those new to the village, this event has been a beloved tradition for over a decade.  During the day, entrance will be free of charge to all.  Any help you can give in running this event would be really appreciated,  follow this link:  Click to View Volunteer Opportunities on SignUp

You can expect exciting arena acts including a walkabout dinosaur and a thrilling parkour demonstration (see below) alongside local dance, singing and acrobatic groups.

Classic summer fete activities including coconut shies and welly-wanging will also be happening! Local clubs and societies will be running these activities, giving them a chance to fundraise while connecting with the wider community. And, of course, no Fun Day would be complete without a Beer Tent, offering local beers and a selection of refreshing summer drinks.

A bumper year for the Mortimer 10k and Fun Run!

This year we had the best entry in recent years so congratulations to all those who finished:

10K 399 finishers
Juniors 171 finishers
Walkers 62 finishers

Full results can be found at www.readingroadrunners.org

The runs and walk were organised by Reading Roadrunners and we think this was at least the 27th year of the event, first organised by the Seward family. The Roadrunner raised about £2,500 for BRINOS, the Britain Nepal Otology Service, a charity dedicated to the prevention and treatment of deafness in Nepal.  Details at www.brinos.org.uk

We also had Whittles Fun Fair and a variety of charity stalls and refreshments. Local groups and charities (including 1st Mortimer BP Scouts, Daisy’s Dream, the Ollie Young Foundation, Creating Better Futures and Burghfield and Sulhampstead Scouts) raised over £1,350 for their own funds).

Finally a big thank you to Sarah Morland who has coordinated the village effort required to support Roadrunners in putting on the Fun Run for a number of years and is now handing over to a new team!

We don't yet have any photos from the event, so if you have any that we can publish on the website please send them to mortimerVW@yahoo.co.uk
