Mortimer Fun Day Back for 2025

After a seven-year hiatus, the ever-popular Mortimer Fun Day will return on Saturday 05 July.

The event will be held on Mortimer Fairground and will be hosted by Mortimer Village Partnership (MVP) and Mortimer Music Live (MML).

For those new to the village, this event has been a beloved tradition for over a decade.  During the day, entrance will be free of charge to all.  Any help you can give in running this event would be really appreciated,  follow this link:  Click to View Volunteer Opportunities on SignUp

You can expect exciting arena acts including a walkabout dinosaur and a thrilling parkour demonstration (see below) alongside local dance, singing and acrobatic groups.

Classic summer fete activities including coconut shies and welly-wanging will also be happening! Local clubs and societies will be running these activities, giving them a chance to fundraise while connecting with the wider community. And, of course, no Fun Day would be complete without a Beer Tent, offering local beers and a selection of refreshing summer drinks.

Silver Sunday 2015

Some of the elderly people in our community celebrated Silver Sunday in style at the Methodist Hall today. 55 people were entertained by everyone's favourite, Alan McGurk with his magic show before tucking in to a delicious Cottage Pie, followed by apple crumble and trifle cooked by volunteers, Judi, Sarah, Shona, Danusia, Sue, Lisa and Cindy. We were all lucky to be entertained by a selection of wartime favourites from our local Hurst Singers - it was so lovely to hear people joining in to the songs they knew from their younger days. It was great to see young people in our community eager to volunteer for this event and our special thanks go to Stan and Evie not to mention Alan McGurk's Magician prodigy Kye. Everyone expressed their enjoyment of the event and how lovely it was to be appreciated in our community. Rebecca expressed her thanks to all the people who gave their time to make this event happen and looked forward to seeing everyone next year.
