There is a local Bag2School collection of clothes, shoes, accessories, bedding, curtains, towels, cuddly toys  etc. The proceeds are split between St John's, St. Mary's and Willink PTAs. Collections are made from both outside houses and at school (see the Calendar for dates).

We have been collecting for our local schools for about 14 years now and we regularly receive about 1 tonne per collection which means Mortimer and surrounds have put into Bag2school bags over 42 tonnes of unwanted clothing over the years. The Bag2school team have recently released a statement which explains how the scheme works and also suggests alternatives particularly for items which cannot be accepted.

Shift-It-Fitness is based in Mortimer, offering mobile personal training on a 1-2-1, couples and small group basis.  Nutritional advice is also available.

Group exercise classes are also available on Fridays at Mortimer Community Centre:

9:30am Beginners (Mix of resistance and cardio)

10.45am Core and Stretch (mat based class)

12:00pm Fitness Fusion (circuits/HIIT)

Burghfield Bowls Club was founded in 1990 by a group of 15 local bowlers. The Club was set up specifically as a mixed club in order that its members could play mixed friendly matches. Currently, the Clubs’ members are active in County Competitions, the Men’s Kennet and Kennet LV Leagues, the Thames Valley Ladies League and the Oddfellows Mixed Triples League. In addition the Club has a full fixture list of mixed friendly matches.
