Mortimer Fun Day Back for 2025

After a seven-year hiatus, the ever-popular Mortimer Fun Day will return on Saturday 05 July.

The event will be held on Mortimer Fairground and will be hosted by Mortimer Village Partnership (MVP) and Mortimer Music Live (MML).

For those new to the village, this event has been a beloved tradition for over a decade.  During the day, entrance will be free of charge to all.  Any help you can give in running this event would be really appreciated,  follow this link:  Click to View Volunteer Opportunities on SignUp

You can expect exciting arena acts including a walkabout dinosaur and a thrilling parkour demonstration (see below) alongside local dance, singing and acrobatic groups.

Classic summer fete activities including coconut shies and welly-wanging will also be happening! Local clubs and societies will be running these activities, giving them a chance to fundraise while connecting with the wider community. And, of course, no Fun Day would be complete without a Beer Tent, offering local beers and a selection of refreshing summer drinks.

MORTIMER & AREA SPORTS WEEK, 17th – 23rd May

We've just finished another very successful Mortimer & Area Sports Weekend

IMG_1883.jpg

This year we had a huge variety of sports on offer and were able to provide something for most ages and abilities. The Tennis, Woodland Laser Combat, Survival Skills, Kwik Cricket, Sailing and Outdoor fitness sessions were very well attended with good interest in the Cheerleading Masterclass and Road Bike Skills too.  Sales are yet to be calculated but we estimate around 200 passports were sold. The medal presentation will be at the Mortimer Fun Day on 5th July.

Thank you to all the teams, clubs and organisations who volunteered their time and energy to make the Sports Week such a success, and to Budgens, Dad's Shop, Mortimer Post Office and the Willink Leisure Centre for selling the passports.

"Thank you to everyone who was involved in organising the Sports Weekend. My boys have all had a fantastic time trying loads of sports and activities and meeting lots of new people as well as bumping into their friends. They are already asking if it's happening again next year!" (Claire Moor, Facebook)

"Great to see so many local kids (>50) joining in yesterday morning in the football sessions on the APM field in Mortimer as part of the Mortimer Sports Weekend" (Mortimer Football Club, Facebook)

"Thanks to Rachel Hill for organising the cycling event as part of the sports weekend, cycling this morning was fun in the sun with 26 miles covered in 1:45. Lovely roads around Mortimer and would be good to go out again on another Sunday morning if others are up for it. Bit sadistic of Rachel to stop us all outside Bramley bakery with its cake aromas mid ride however." (Ben Hiscock, Facebook)

"Woodland Laser Combat is epic.  I definitely want to do that for my birthday!" (from activities at Unique Outdoors)

"Playing a cricket match at the end was cool and I scored loads of sixes!" (from Kwik Cricket)

Thank You

To all of the organisations and clubs that gave their time and energy to make the Mortimer & Area Sports Week 2014 so successful.  The full role call is below!

We’ll be counting up the passports sold and medals earned this week and we’re looking forward to a big medal ceremony at the Mortimer Fun Day on 5th July.

We hope you all enjoyed it and have even signed up to start something new.  If you have feedback about any of the events, do contact us at mortimersportsweekend@gmail.com
