Mortimer Fun Day Back for 2025

After a seven-year hiatus, the ever-popular Mortimer Fun Day will return on Saturday 05 July.

The event will be held on Mortimer Fairground and will be hosted by Mortimer Village Partnership (MVP) and Mortimer Music Live (MML).

For those new to the village, this event has been a beloved tradition for over a decade.  During the day, entrance will be free of charge to all.  Any help you can give in running this event would be really appreciated,  follow this link:  Click to View Volunteer Opportunities on SignUp

You can expect exciting arena acts including a walkabout dinosaur and a thrilling parkour demonstration (see below) alongside local dance, singing and acrobatic groups.

Classic summer fete activities including coconut shies and welly-wanging will also be happening! Local clubs and societies will be running these activities, giving them a chance to fundraise while connecting with the wider community. And, of course, no Fun Day would be complete without a Beer Tent, offering local beers and a selection of refreshing summer drinks.

MVP Christmas Fair a Great Success!

Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas! were Santa's last words as we saw him mounting his sleigh on top of the Methodist Hall in Mortimer last Saturday. Over 70 children visited Santa in his magical grotto, whispering their wish lists with quiet hopefulness. While visitors sipped mulled fruit spice and tasted delicious cakes made by local volunteers, shoppers were able to browse the various stalls in the Christmas Market. Mortimer 1st BP Scouts had a flowing stream of visitors to their soft toy raffle, handing out cuddly toys to children of all ages; one young child's reaction will remain with us for years to come, not old enough yet to speak but the smile on his face said everything!

While the grotto may be packed away now for another year, MVP always welcomes suggestions for our events. If you have an idea, please get in touch via our website www.mortimervillage.org.uk

MVP would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers who made this event so special for the children and residents of Mortimer and it's surrounding villages. If you enjoyed this event so much that you would like to be involved next year, please contact Olivia Arthur (this year's Chief Elf) at oa.arthur@gmail.com
