Spring Clean 2012

Thank you to everyone who attended the Mortimer Spring Clean on Saturday 14th April. Supported by the Mortimer BP Scouts and Cubs, just over 50 people helped to spruce up the streets and wooded and park areas of the village, to produce the black sacks of rubbish and other waste, that are currently waiting for collection by West Berks Council.

Amongst the items cleared was a box of quails eggs, 4 and 1/2 pairs of gloves, an old 45 rpm record, several tyres, a fridge and a scooter!

Whilst amalgamating the piles of rubbish, one of the Spring Clean organisers was stopped by the police for fly tipping! Luckily he managed to persuade them that everything was above board but it's great to think that the dumping of rubbish is being taken seriously.

Thanks once again for the help of all concerned. The "sparkling" results are well worth the effort. Our thanks too to Craig at the Horse and Groom for allowing us to set up "camp" in the pub garden.
