MVP Chairman announces in Chairman’s report the plan to install and fund a Defibrillator - to be centrally located in the village, in conjunction with the SMPC and the First Responders. Doug Overett the MVP Chair said this was a natural development following the Heartstart courses held over the last 4 years by the MVP and support for the First Res
Burghfield & Mortimer Volunteer Bureau
Provides transport by car to anyone who is unable to use other means, in particular for medical appointments. It serves the parishes of Burghfield, Mortimer West End, Stratfield Mortimer, Silchester, Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet. Volunteers use their own cars to take people in need (many of them elderly and infirm) to and from local hospitals, surgeries, dentists, opticians etc. In addition the Bureau organises transport to local day centres for some elderly residents. Passengers are encouraged to make a donation towards the cost of the service.
If you or anyone you know needs such a service, phone the office on 0118 983 1814 between 9:30 and 11:30 Monday to Friday. A driver will then phone you to confirm all details including collection time. If you would like to volunteer as a driver please contact bureauvolunteer@gmail.com

A local Charity providing transport for the elderly and less able members
of our local community. Operating a special minibus adapted for
wheelchair use and easy passenger access, providing shopping and
Social Club trips for residents of Burghfield, Mortimer, Sulhampstead
and surrounding villages.
