The Real Life Bridget Jones (of Mortimer)

Submitted by The Happy Hermit on 6 April 2020

I'm currently sat at home, about to enter into week 3 of lockdown. I'm in my 40's (which is not middle-aged for those who think it is). I'm in the "vulnerable" category due to my chronic asthma, which means I have not left the house properly since shortly before lockdown. I am an eternal singleton (not through lack of trying but Mr Darcy just hasn't knocked on my door yet) and am locked up on my own. I also run my own independent travel agency from home - as the crisis unfolded I was working pretty much 24/7 to get my clients home from their holidays across the globe, thankfully the final two returned last Monday, which means I am now at a bit of a loss as to what to do with my time....hence me taking part in this diary - it will kill an hour of my lockdown day.

So, that's me in a nutshell....vulnerable, unable to go out, living alone and with no work or income.....

It could all be pretty glum but over the next few days / weeks I'm going to write down my little positive snippets on how this singleton survived in the face of adversity, so that the future generations will see that being alone doesn't equate to being lonely and that being an entrepreneur in completely the wrong industry of the day, doesn't mean you should give up and lose hope.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel - let's just hope it's not an oncoming train...…...
