The event will be held on Mortimer Fairground and will be hosted by Mortimer Village Partnership (MVP) and Mortimer Music Live (MML).

For those new to the village, this event has been a beloved tradition for over a decade.  During the day, entrance will be free of charge to all.  Any help you can give in running this event would be really appreciated,  follow this link:  Click to View Volunteer Opportunities on SignUp

You can expect exciting arena acts including a walkabout dinosaur and a thrilling parkour demonstration (see below) alongside local dance, singing and acrobatic groups.

Classic summer fete activities including coconut shies and welly-wanging will also be happening! Local clubs and societies will be running these activities, giving them a chance to fundraise while connecting with the wider community. And, of course, no Fun Day would be complete without a Beer Tent, offering local beers and a selection of refreshing summer drinks.

Mortimer FC Youth Football End of Season Update

Mortimer FC's 2 new Youth football teams were created this time last year and have grown rapidly as children from local villages including Padworth, Silchester, Bucklebury, Aldermaston, Burghfield, Tadley and Grazely have come together to learn how to play a team sport and to get healthy exercise. Mortimer is a FA ‘Charter Standard' Football club with its own ground which includes 2 pitches and a club house situated next to the ‘Turners Arms' on West End Road. Run entirely by volunteers our objective is to make football interesting and fun, whilst keeping participation charges as low as possible to enable all to enjoy.

The under 8 Hornets team which was started new in June last year has grown from 6 players to 12 over the course of the year and played its first game ever in the Berkshire Youth Development League in September. The team has progressed really well being promoted at the half way point of the season following a strong run of results and continuing to do well each week in the higher division, culminating in the team being awarded the end of season trophy pictured for ‘Most Improved' team in the division. The players award was very deserved and its been incredible over the course of a year to see 7-8 year olds grow in confidence and ability to such a significant extent. The under 8 team would like to thank local business ‘Spratleys of Mortimer' for the sponsorship which funded the boys playing and waterproof kit and ‘Bon-fire' of Silchester and ‘Conservatree' of Reading who funded the players training kit and equipment.

The under 10 Hornets team has had a strong year which started from a pre season tournament hosted at Mortimer and saw them effectively promoted mid season as the Berkshire Youth Development League created an extra division, the development of the team has been aided by 2 new players joining the squad both of whom have contributed significantly. The highlight of the season was a 7-1 result against Tilehurst team Westwood Wanderers which saw midfielder Josh Pennington rack up a Hornets first hat trick in a league game. The under 10 team would like to thank Padworth business ‘JDS construction' for sponsoring the boys playing kit and Theale based based business ‘Conabeare' for sponsoring the boys training kit and waterproof tops.

The teams intend to finish the season off with a series of friendly games which have been organised, a coach trip to the Coventry vs Reading game and our end of season presentation on the 14th of May which will see every player receive a trophy recognising their personal contribution this season, which special awards being presented for ‘Players Player', ‘Team Player', ‘Most Improved Player' and the coveted ‘Golden Boot' for our top goalscorer.

The under 10 Hornets will move up to the FA's new 9 a side format for next season and as a result we have spaces for 2-3 players to join our squad and we are especially looking for players with experience of playing competitive league football to play in a variety of pitch positions.
