Currently MVP is reviewing this event .If you have any new ideas, please contact MVP (https://www.mortimervillage.org.uk/contact)

In 2019, MVP decided that, after 10 successful years, the classic format Mortimer Fun Day deserved a rest and of course Covid lockdowns made re-starting impossible in 2020 and 2021.

In 2022 MVP supported the Queens Jubilee Celebrations organized by SMPC and in 2023 MVP together with Mortimer Music Live hosted the Coronation Event. So certainly no Fun Day in 2023.

Watch this space for 2024.

Mortimer Fun Run - 26th September

For another year, hundreds of people took to the Mortimer streets for the Budgens & Reading Roadrunners Fun Run, Walk and 10k on the last Sunday in September.

The weather was brisk but spirits were high as children aged 4 -16 lined up to tackle the 3km run around the Fairground accompanied by parents, friends and dogs. Alex Bampton from Swindon Harriers swept home in 10 minutes and 15 seconds. In the 10k, the winner was Chris Payne from Reading Roadrunners in a time of 35 minutes and 28 seconds.

This event has often been good fun for runners and spectators alike and this year was no exception. There were coffees, teas, bacon rolls and cakes aplenty and if the children weren't exhausted enough after their race there were inflatables and stalls to keep them busy. It also got some great ratings from the running community on www.runnersworld.co.uk with contributors saying it was great value, well organised, well supported with all contributors saying they would run it again.
