Mortimer Fun Day Back for 2025

After a seven-year hiatus, the ever-popular Mortimer Fun Day will return on Saturday 05 July.

The event will be held on Mortimer Fairground and will be hosted by Mortimer Village Partnership (MVP) and Mortimer Music Live (MML).

For those new to the village, this event has been a beloved tradition for over a decade.  During the day, entrance will be free of charge to all.  Any help you can give in running this event would be really appreciated,  follow this link:  Click to View Volunteer Opportunities on SignUp

You can expect exciting arena acts including a walkabout dinosaur and a thrilling parkour demonstration (see below) alongside local dance, singing and acrobatic groups.

Classic summer fete activities including coconut shies and welly-wanging will also be happening! Local clubs and societies will be running these activities, giving them a chance to fundraise while connecting with the wider community. And, of course, no Fun Day would be complete without a Beer Tent, offering local beers and a selection of refreshing summer drinks.

Advent 2010

This year saw Together in Mission able to put the Christmas tree kindly donated by Englefield Estate on the Fairground.

On Sunday 22nd November, children gathered in the Community Centre to make decorations for the tree from lollipop sticks, pingpong balls, and lots of glitter!  During the week the tree was erected and the decorations put on it.

In the second of the three Advent events (on the first Sunday of Advent, 29th November) again children and parents came and made lanterns from recycled jam jars. They were joined by adults in singing a few carols before Thomas, the winner of the fancy dress competition, (what a great pirate!) turned on the tree lights. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this event so special: volunteers, the Community Centre, St. John's School, Mortimer pre-school, Englefield Estate and, of course, everyone who made decorations.

The final event was carol singing on Saturday 11st December accompanied by a very welcome adhoc band of local musicians and with delicious mince pies afterwards!
