Mortimer Village Partnership Public Meeting

We were very pleased to have more than 60 people come to the first MVP public meeting on Saturday 24th April. They were able to look at posters from more than 25 local organisations and talk to representatives from many of them. You can see the posters in the photogallery.

The entries for the MVP logo competition were also on display and Sophie James was presented with a prize for the winning entry (£20 voucher to spend at Mortimer Fun Day 2010).

The Parish Council displayed draft plans for a new adventure playground for older children on the Fairground and St. John's Hall Committee also displayed their plans for improvements to the hall.

The atmosphere was very positive and there were many comments of surprise of how much was going on in the village! A brief resume of the community based initiatives that have got under way with the support of MVP led into a lively discussion session where people sat in groups around small tables. A series of questions got us introducing ourselves, sharing what people liked about the village and what ideas they had for the future. People moved from table to table and wrote their ideas on the paper table cloths - these will be used to help MVP plan the next steps!

Some of the comments at the end:

"I didn't know there was so much going on locally - it's great!"

"I think we might have found a group of people to start a French club"

"I've found out new things about people I already knew and met new people"

"There seem to be several of us interested in Salsa dancing evenings - watch this space!"

You don't need to wait for the next public meeting to give us your ideas - let us know what you think about Mortimer and what you would like to happen - email mvp@morsley.me.uk
