The Fun Day was GREAT!

  • It took nine people, eight months to organise Fun Day 2013
  • MVP sold 4234 raffle tickets; 1530 before the event and  2704 during the day itself
  • 956 people bought tickets to go on the large inflatables
  • 85 people had their faces painted.
  • 18 people won Raffle Prizes
  • There were 74 Market Row stalls selling everything from Pet supplies to Jewellery
  • 203 performers went out into the arena and entertained with dance, music, agility and acrobatics
  • 9 ducks misbehaved, three dogs from Quack Pack brought them back into line
  • 6 Berkshire Rescue dogs cooled off after their arena demonstration in their very own paddling pool
  • 352 bottles of water were consumed by volunteers working during the day, before and after the event too
  • 140 volunteers were needed to run all the essential services that are necessary to run our Fun Day, from manning stalls to erecting tents.
  • Two Willink girls raised £170 towards their trip to Malawi
  • 52 people tried out the Reverse Geared Bicycle, kindly donated by Kevin Smart from Hogstravaganza, and no one was successful
  • 5000+ people visited the Fun Day
  • Four people are champion Wally Wangers of Mortimer Fun Day, the furthest throw being 30.5 metres
  • 158 soft toys were adopted during the day
  • Mortimer WI raised £280 from selling cakes
  • 400 tombola items were won
  • Guide Dogs for the Blind made £300 on their stall
  • 187 sticks of candy floss were consumed
  • Over 200 people tried out Unique Outdoors Laser Guns
  • 60 children tried their luck to win the Junior golf chipping competition from DeVere Venues at Wokefield Park
  • 1100+ pints of beer/lager/cider  were consumed.  250 glasses of pimms were served and 600 cans sold
  • It took 2 extra runs to supermarkets and wholesalers to satisfy the thirst at the bar
  • It took two complete printer ink cartridges to print all the posters and signs that went up during the event
  • 60 hay bales were borrowed from Harvey Crocker to line the arena and the Hoedown in the evening
  • Two pigs were stripped bare for the hogroast
  • 199 children tried out the four Spratleys Go karts
  • 1000 extra Village Eye programmes were printed to advertise our event
  • Mortimer BP Scouts parked over 500 cars.  While the roads around the event made Mortimer itself one large car park for the day.
  • MVP had to find 230 chairs and 66 tables for all the attractions

  • The youngest volunteer was just 7 years old.  We also had children as young as 4 helping!
