Great Turnout for MVP 10th Birthday Bash and AGM

On the afternoon of Saturday 23rd March, after a very productive Village Spring Clean and a busy week of activity on social media, more than 40 people joined the MVP committee to celebrate 10 years of MVP and attend its AGM.

After a brief welcome the current MVP Chairman, Doug Overett, cut the birthday cake with one of MVP’s founder members, Rebecca Barker.

While everyone enjoyed a piece of cake and a hot drink, Doug talked about the original aims of MVP, how these have changed and how these can now be summed up simply by  “Enriching Village Life”.

He touched on some of the 10 fun MVP facts which had been shared earlier during the week across the MVP social media Facebook and Twitter accounts.  When he asked the audience the question, “does MVP still enrich village life?”, this was met with a resounding “yes”.  Those attending agreed that the work MVP does is still as relevant and worthwhile as it was 10 years ago.

Doug went on to talk about some of the highlights of the last 12 months, namely the first ever Affiliates Fair, the new MVP website and the appointment of Keeleigh Field, the first MVP Youth Co-ordinator.

The Affiliates Fair, held in November at St John's Hall, saw 26 local clubs and organisations attend.  This event helped promote what they do and gave them the opportunity to network with other local organisations.  The aim being to encourage community cohesion and collaboration. 

The new-look MVP website launched last summer and now showcases the best the village has to offer in a much easier way.  It’s hoped this site will continue to be the go-to place for village information and, most importantly, the home to a very busy village calendar.
