Burghfield Resident wins Queens Platinum Jubilee Champion Award

London – Sunday June 5th, 2022.
 As part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, David Gregory from Burghfield Community Group has been awarded a Queens Platinum Champion Award by HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

The award was made in a special garden party hosted by The Royal Voluntary Service and their Royal Highnesses and held at “The Oval-London” during Sunday lunchtime.

David was one of 70 Platinum Champions selected and judged from thousands of nominations across the UK and who were all given seats for the Saturday Evening “Party at the Palace” as well as the opportunity to meet the Royal Couple for a special luncheon on Sunday June 5th.

David has been recognised for his long term volunteering work including: 17 years service to NHS Ambulance frontline, St John Ambulance Covid Vaccination Programme “Million Hours”, RVS Community Responders Programme but especially for his work in Burghfield Community where he offers a free Mobility Service, Emergency Drivers Scheme, Donates & installs AED Defibrillators to community sites , helps train residents on First Aid and assists  other voluntary organisations in the local area.

During the recent Covid Pandemic, David helped organise Medicine deliveries for shielding residents across two rural villages and provided a local helpline, liaising with other voluntary groups including Dr’s, Pharmacists and the West Berkshire Council Adult Social Care Team to ensure people’s needs were met whilst shielding.

David is also  a Community link for his  local Parish &  District Councils and runs a Facebook support group within the village.

In addition David was awarded a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for his ongoing voluntary work responding to 999 medical emergencies for the NHS in his local community.
