Marina Swainston-Harrison has been teaching Spanish and English as a Foreign Language to adults for more than 20 years; from personal 1-2-1 tuition to lecturing at Universities and teaching in Further Education Colleges. She has lived in Argentina, Spain and Mexico. Marina is DBS checked and would love to help you with Spanish/English in the comfort of her home in Mortimer. £40.00 per hour. Currently she hosts regular Spanish Coffee Mornings (£5) which are for those who already speak some Spanish and who would like to practise over coffee and cake. We are a group for all artisans, artists and crafters local to Mortimer who create and produce their own handmade goods, with a wide range of members from bee keepers, woodturners, glass artists and photographers. A friendly and supportive group, we meet regularly  (usually on the second Thursday of the month, in the evening) to share ideas, gain inspiration, ask advice from each other and generally share a passion for making things! 

We run craft evenings which are open to all on an ad-hoc basis and we also currently run the children's craft activities at Mortimer library which take place on the second Saturday of the month from 10.30  - 12, which is free and open to all children aged 3 - 11 with no need to book.  We also aim to collectively raise the profile of the crafters in the village and encourage a more ‘buy local’ ethos and arrange markets for our members to display their wares, three times a year.

1st Burghfield & Sulhamstead is a thriving scout group open to boys and girls aged 6 to 25 serving the local area. We consist of 3 Beaver colonies, 3 Cub packs, 3 Scout troops, 2 Explorer Units, a District Network Group for young people aged 18-25.

We provide fun for all members of the family as well as the youngsters who enjoy lots of outdoor fun in a structured and safe environment. For more details visit our website.

Formed from the merger of Mortimer West End Cricket Club (MWECC) and Mortimer Cricket Club (MCC), 2025 will see both heritage clubs’ home grounds being used, and we have the distinction of being one club with two home grounds in separate counties.

We expect to compete with three Saturday league teams, in the Thames Valley League (TVL), The 1 st XI in Division 5, 2nd XI in Division 8 and 3rd XI, which will be a development team, in Division 9. Our Sunday friendly side will continue with a full fixture list. We will provide members the opportunity to play cricket at a suitable level to match their needs and aim to provide a clear pathway for junior members to progress into adult cricket.

We will continue to provide coaching to children from the age of 5-15 and are engaging with local secondary schools to help provide indoor winter cricket opportunities. Our own indoor nets will begin in February, at Theale Green School and anyone interested in coming along should contact any member of the committee via our new website
