Community Responders
Community First Responders are trained to respond to certain types of medical emergencies while the ambulance crew are en-route.
If you are interested in volunteering for the scheme you will be;
· Aiding us to help save lives.
· Helping people in your community.
· Benefiting from essential lifesaving skills and techniques.
· Helping to raise the profile of the schemes in local areas.
If you are physically fit, (you need to be able to comfortably carry a medium sized response bag and perform CPR at the patients side until the ambulance arrives and is able to take over) aged 18 years or over, hold a full UK current driving licence and have access to a car and can spare some time to help those in need then you could be eligible to join the Community First Responders scheme.
It's not just about attending 999 calls though; if you don't want to volunteer in a medical capacity you can still help with things like fund-raising or admin assistance.
